Celebrating Our Parish MinistriesAs part of a new initiative to recognize and support the vibrant ministries of St. John Neumann Parish, the Parish Council will begin highlighting three ministries each month, starting later this summer or in early fall.
Each selected ministry will have the opportunity to host a table in the narthex for the duration of their featured month. A representative will be invited to be present after Masses on the first weekend of the month to greet parishioners, answer questions, share printed materials, and encourage others to get involved.
In addition to the table, each featured ministry will be spotlighted with a short write-up in the parish bulletin and a brief announcement at all Masses during the first weekend of the month.
We look forward to celebrating the many ways our ministries serve the parish and to helping more parishioners find meaningful opportunities to participate in parish life.
Stay tuned for more details—and be sure to stop by the tables in the narthex to learn more and get involved! -
SJN Parish Council
The Parish Council serves the St. John Neumann community in a variety of ways. To quote from the Mission Statement, our role is to:
I. Nurture the spiritual growth and address the needs of the Catholic community of St. John Neumann
II. Encourage the development and use of gifts and talents for service to all
III. Create a welcoming atmosphere in which all people are lovingly accepted
IV. Inspire a spirit of joy, learning, excitement, sharing, openness and loveWe accomplish these goals in many different ways. As a representative body serving the parishioners, we participate in a variety of ministries and assist the staff. We serve as the focal point for issues and concerns of the parish. And we function as advisors to the pastor and staff on matters that affect us all.
Serving on the Parish Council is a special privilege, one that is taken very seriously by those who are called. Each of us commits to a three-year term and members can serve a maximum of two consecutive terms. In addition, we encourage input from our youth and they too can serve on the council (usually a one year commitment).
